The Center For Hope in Ambridge, PA really needs our help in providing free meals to hungry children.
The Center for Hope in provides outreach and service to a community that has undergone economic hardship and demographic change in what has been designated a distressed community. Last year alone, more than 22,000 visitors used CFH services.
The Center provides services, including: a food pantry, a clothes closet, a free lunch program, literacy programs, vocational rehab, WIC nutritional education, after school tutoring programs and many other community services. I received an email yesterday that the children's free lunch program ran out of meals for a second time the other day--estimating that they had about 30-40 more kids to feed than they had meals available and a girl was crying for fear that there would not be enough food for her. Fortunately, the volunteers at the Center were able to make use of supplies from the food pantry (another service they provide) to make lunches for the children. And the Center is working closely with the YMCA to make sure that there will be enough lunches to make sure they are prepared to serve nearly 100 meals daily. The Center wants to make absolutely sure that they never have to turn away a hungry child (and they never will!). But, they desperately need some supplies: If you are in the Beaver County area and are willing to provide the Center with these much-needed supplies, the Center is at 233 Merchant St. Ambridge, PA 15003. Their number is 724-251-4899. If you're not able to make it to the Center but would like to help, please let me know. I will try to make arrangements to pick up the supplies.
